Re-SheepFish (ریگوسفندفیش) is the second part of the RE Trilogy by Mehdi Mashhour, following Re-Mahshid Kazemi, a 72-hour nonstop performance in Tehran. Performed on a sandy beach in southern Iran, Re-SheepFish was conceived as a 17-hour nonstop theatrical production. The performance focused on ritual and explored the possibility of bringing elements from outside the conventional theatrical space into the performance itself. For Saye Theatre, the presence of live animals became part of this experiment, opening a different relationship between performers, bodies, landscape, and the theatrical event. Rather than separating the performance from its surroundings, Re-SheepFish took place directly within the landscape of the southern coast. The beach became part of the performance space, while the extended duration allowed the work to unfold through changes in light, time, physical endurance, and the rhythms of the environment. Re-SheepFish continued the RE Trilogy’s investigation of the body and its relationship to performance, while moving from the urban space of Re-Mahshid Kazemi into a natural environment and a collective, ritual-based experience.
