The Silent House in Moscow — World Theatre Week 2019 April 4, 2019 Current, Projects April 4, 2019 The Silent House was presented in Moscow in 2019 at the invitation of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, as part of World Theatre Week. The performance took place near the Stanislavsky House. Written and directed by Mehdi Mashhour, the production follows Benjamin and Shiva, a couple who have been living in a refugee camp in Europe for five years. They are waiting for the birth of their child while trying to obtain residency, with the help of a man named Mr. Golbahari. Their life appears quiet and uneventful, but beneath the silence, fragmented conversations, different languages, and repetitive daily routines, tension gradually builds. The confined space of the refugee camp becomes a place where intimacy, waiting, uncertainty, and the possibility of change are constantly present. The production was presented in Moscow as part of the group’s international activities around The Silent House.
