A Conversation with Saye Theatre after The Silent House October 26, 2019 Current, News, Projects Following the presentation of The Silent House at the International Festival of Premieres in Bydgoszcz, Poland, the festival team held a post-performance meeting with Saye Theatre and the audience. The conversation moved beyond the production itself. Members of Saye Theatre spoke about their approaches to directing and acting, the working methods behind The Silent House, and the group’s experience of presenting its work at international theatre festivals. The discussion also opened a broader conversation about the conditions of theatre in Iran and the ways an independent theatre group works, travels, and communicates its artistic practice in an international context. For Saye Theatre, participation in international festivals is also a way of creating a direct exchange with artists and audiences outside Iran. The meeting in Bydgoszcz became part of that exchange, allowing the audience to ask questions about the production, the group’s working methods, and its approach to international presentation. The festival itself included meetings with artists alongside its performances, as part of a programme that placed particular emphasis on direct encounters between artists and audiences.
