A Workshop with Roza Moshtaghi

18–19 October 2026 | Farvardin Art House, Tehran

The Saye Theatre Group’s Dance and Choreography Studies Collective, in collaboration with Bazaar-e Ketab, hosted a two-day workshop with Roza Moshtaghi, a Tehran-born artist and choreographer based in Oslo. The workshop brought together 25 dancers, choreographers, and designers.

During the two days, Moshtaghi shared her experience and working methods, drawing on her practice with Moshtaghi Company and her collaboration with the University of Oslo. The workshop explored the relationship between writing and movement through the concept of the score in dance and performance: instructions, signs, words, images, and ideas that can be translated into movement, and movements that can be recorded and passed on through writing.

Working with different tools and approaches, participants developed their own scores throughout the workshop. By the end, each participant had produced a zine based on movement and performance instructions. The zines were then made available to the public through Bazaar-e Ketab’s art book market, extending the work of the two days beyond the workshop itself.

About Roza Moshtaghi

Roza Moshtaghi is an artist and choreographer born in Tehran and based in Oslo. Her work spans choreography, dance, and performance. She is interested in narratives of desire that resist explanation, emerging through processes of adapting to systems and structures, or pushing back against them. The everyday, or what we have been compelled to accept as ordinary, is the terrain of her work.

Moshtaghi’s work has been presented in theatres, museums, galleries, festivals, and public spaces. Her selected works include SURVIVE, commissioned by Danish Dance Theatre in 2025; Sophie’s Room, commissioned by the MUNCH Museum in Oslo in 2024; BUD, commissioned by Norway’s national contemporary dance company Carte Blanche in 2022; and Bouncing Narratives (2019). In 2026, Oil-Dino-Du received the Heddaprisen award.
